Hi everyone. Thanks for visiting the LES blog. Away we go!
The years I spent as a sales representative in the eye care community were some of the most impactful of my professional career. I witnessed the caring, professionalism and amazing advancements in eye care that are hallmarks of our industry. I also came to understand that in order to effectively care for patients, the business operations of an eye care practice are critical. In turn, an effectively operating business practice is marked by good relationships, a caring and educated staff, and empathetic doctors utilizing the latest and greatest tools.
With that in mind, I saw firsthand the need for an organizational tool that could foster a sense of community across all professional areas in eye care. I was so motivated by this need that I left my previous 13 year sales career and created Local Eye Site.
Local Eye Site, built exclusively for the eye care industry has a mission to improve communication across all specialties and positions in eye care, enhance educational opportunities in eye care, and help everyone involved in eye care develop professionally.
So far, the results have been fantastic! I would like to thank the entire eye care community for embracing LES. The site has been utilized beyond our expectations since it was first made available in the spring of 2008. Thousands of visits to the site, hundreds of registrants, jobs posted from respected organizations like UNC, Wake Forest University, and Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat, just to name a few. Additionally, registrants are using the “Idea Exchange” to share and ask great questions, and our “My Career” section already has exciting contributions. Lastly, the geographic reach of our participation is expanding from primarily North Carolina to many regions across the country. Our commitment is to grow the LES community while maintaining client focus and providing excellent service. Thanks again for your participation.
We will continually strive to enhance LES so the eye care community has a tool that will be the envy of all medical specialties. However, to do that, we need your continued participation. Please stay in involved, tell a friend and give us feedback or suggestions for things you would like to see on the site. Together, we can truly create a community in eye care that Connects, Builds and Shares.
